Introducing Our Cast: Christina

Today, we're highlighting the wonderful actress playing Christina, who is Tatiana's aunt. Christina lives in Seroe Patrishi. After Olga's marital problems, she opens her home to her sister and her two children. Family is very important to Christina.

Christina is played by Luty Martinez, who in daily life is a psycho-educator (an educator of people with a mental health condition). Luty's passion is the theater. She has performed in numerous theatrical productions as a member of Aruba's most prolific theater company Mascaruba, as well as part of other theater groups in Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire, St. Maarten, Saba, the USA, Venezuela, and Cuba. When she is not acting she works as a stage director.

What was your experience working on 'Abo So'?
"Besides acting, I was allowed to assist the producer on this wonderful production. I learned a lot about the ins and outs of such a big project. I am extremely thankful for this experience. I enjoyed working with such gifted individuals: actors, technicians, producers, and the director. I now have an adopted family. "ABO SO" is just beautiful."

Introducing Our Cast: Olga

This week we bring you the third family member of Tatiana, her mother: Olga. A traditional mother portrayed by Daphny Evelyne Martijn, Olga is the one who carries the family - sometimes for better, and sometimes for worse.

Since her teenage years Daphny has formed part of "de Trupialen" choir, who sing many popular local songs. Around that same time she also started to participate in various singing competitions. She was an ambition teenage girl, who pursued her dreams in showbiz; she participated in numerous beauty pageants, has been modeling and acts in theater plays. But it was not until 2012, that she releases her first solo album. Nowadays Daphny serves as a judge for beauty pageants.

What was your experience working on 'Abo So'?
I had a wonderful experience, mostly because since I was a child, I always wanted to be part of a movie. I'm really thankful to the producers to make my dream come true and to my family who supported me during the production of this film. I had the privilege to work with a talented cast and crew, people with discipline and determination who worked very hard to pull off this amazing film. It was especially an honor for me to sing a beautiful song composed by Padu del Caribe in this film.

Introducing Our Cast: Roy

Continuing through Tatiana's family, we get to Roy, Tatiana's older brother. Roy is a conventional man, a protective brother who cares for the well being of his family.

Roy is played by Addonsito Croes, who in daily life is a high school geography teacher.

After finishing his studies in The Netherlands, Addonsito stayed on, and worked there for another 10 years. But the island of his birth was never out of his mind and in 2011 he decided to return to Aruba.
Besides his job as a teacher, Addonsito often is asked to MC a variety of shows and presentation, and he has segments and periodical radio programs, which lean heavily towards creating awareness for Aruba's culture and history, which is one of his passions.

What was your experience working on 'Abo So'?
"I really want to thank the producers and the director of this movie. They made me discover an unknown part of me - a part I wasn't aware of. Thanks for giving me the chance to be part of a movie that is dedicated to one of the greatest Aruban icon in history, Padu del Caribe. It was a great team consisting of positive and inspiring actors and filmmakers. I'll remember this experience for the rest of my life. To all actors and team: BIG HUG: WE DID IT!"

Introducing Our Cast: Tatiana

This week, we are profiling Raphaela Mahadeo, who plays Tatiana, Santiago's love interest. Tatiana is an intelligent, conservative young woman who moves with her mother Olga and brother Roy to their aunt's house in the neighborhood, 'Seroe Patrishi'.

Raphaela Elizabeth Mahadeo started singing at a very young age. Before the age of six she already
participated in her first radio show. "Singing is who I am," she says, and although she only started acting in 2011, this art form has become one of her greatest passions.

What was your experience working on 'Abo So'?
"I absolutely loved doing 'Abo So'. It is an honor. I had a lovely co-star Miguel Genser to work with, and talented cast members like Luty (Martinez, who plays her aunt) as well. A great director of photography, passionate sound engineer, and always stimulating music producer. Josh (Calderon, camera assistant), giving his best and a whole crew of amazing people. And of course a very talented director who is so easy to work with."

Introducing Our Cast: Santiago

Today we present the first member of Abo So's cast: Santiago.
Santiago is a quirky young man of Latin origin. He lives in Seroe Patrishi where he grew up together with his brother Pancho and his friends Felipe and Patrick.

Santiago is played by medical doctor by trade, musician/songwriter by passion: Miguel Genser.

Miguel actually just finished his medical studies. We were lucky to get him in between getting his degree and continuing his studies to become a specialist.
Miguel has always had a passion for music. He released various songs that made it high up the pop charts in Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao. He also composed and produced successful songs for national and international solo artist and bands.

What was your experience working on 'Abo So'?
"I feel honored to have been able to work on a such unique production. Not only did I do something that I never did before, which is acting, but I also had the opportunity to work with and get to know the talented and friendly cast and crew of the film - who I now considered part of my circle of friends. I hope that 'Abo So' will be a film that moves people, generation after generation."

The production of 'Abo So' has successfully concluded!
Production of 'Abo So' started on March 28 and had a duration of 10 days.

How it all started:
On July 2012, Juan Francisco Pardo the director of 'Abo So' started working on this project named 'Tribi Soña' (Dare to Dream), he wanted to create a multidisciplinary educational project focusing on acting, singing, dancing, music production and TV/film production, where especially the youth have the opportunity to develop their skills in different artistic disciplines. The workshops were combined with a big movie project 'Abo So' that showcases the talents of Tribi Soña project participants.

October 2012 Juan received the support of Rebecca Roos from Rebecca Roos Productions; together they started producing the movie and the workshops. Soon after the workshops the main characters start with the recording of the songs made for 'Abo So' at Infinite Music Studio.
